Ibu Helen is a 59-year-old who lost her job in finance payroll when the pandemic hit. With EPF savings of less than RM50,000, Ibu Helen knew she had to find another way to grow her funds and live comfortably. Ibu Helen is testament to how anyone can pick up a new skill, no matter their age or stage in life.
Meet Ibu Izziana
For over 10 years, Ibu Izziana would set up a booth at Bangsar’s night market to sell fresh jackfruit but when COVID lockdowns happened, the mother of 5 found herself with no business and no income. But that didn’t stop her - she learned to bake PurelyB’s Superfood Gula Melaka Cookies and has ventured into candle-making. Ibu Izziana loves sharing what she knows with others because she believes with enough knowledge, you can overcome any obstacle.
Meet Ibu Ika
Ibu Ika is a 36-year-old mother who began her career as a nursing assistant. She learned how to bake 8 years ago in order to earn an income from home and support her 3 boys with severe asthma conditions. Ibu Ika was eager to pick up candle-making and enjoyed attending workshops on product launches and business models. With her new skills, she hopes to develop her home catering business.
